Sandra Bullock’s sister has remembered how the actor was the ‘best of caretakers’ to her partner Bryan Randall before he sadly passed away at the age of 57.

Randall’s family announced the news of his death on Monday (7 August), three years after he was diagnosed with the rare neurological disease ALS, which affects motor neurons.

In a statement, the family explained that Randall had chosen to keep his diagnosis private, adding: “Those of us who cared for him did our best to honor his request.”

“We are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours,” his family continued.

Randall first met Bullock in January 2015 when he was working as a photographer for her son Louis’ birthday.

They went public with their relationship later that same year and have been dating ever since.

In the wake of Randall’s death, Bullock’s own family have been mourning his loss and sharing memories about the actor’s partner.

Bullock’s sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado, shared a tribute to Randall in a statement on Instagram alongside a picture of him smiling at the camera.

She began: “I’m convinced that Bry has found the best fishing spot in heaven and is already casting his lure into rushing rivers teaming with salmon.”

Gesine went on to explain how well her sister had taken care of Randall following his diagnosis, writing: “ALS is a cruel disease but there is some comfort in knowing he had the best of caretakers in my amazing sister and the band of nurses she assembled who helped her look after him in their home.”

“Rest in peace, Bryan,” Gesine continued.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking fans and followers to donate to ALS Association and Massachusetts General Hospital.

Bullock herself has not yet commented on the loss of her partner.

In December 2021, she described Randall as the ‘love of [her] life’, adding: “I don’t wanna say do it like I do it, but I don’t need a paper to be a devoted partner and devoted mother. I don’t need to be told to be ever present in the hardest of times. I don’t need to be told to weather a storm with a good man.”

In their statement, Randall’s family asked for ‘privacy to grieve and to come to terms with the impossibility of saying goodbye to Bryan’.
